The first stop on our Thanksgiving mini tour of the southwest was Santa Fe. The late November evenings were cold and crisp, with temperatures below freezing. This mad strolling at night very magical, with serene silence blanketing wonderful objects lit from below. Everything in this town feels like art. And obviously, a lot of it truly is commercial. But the stillness and light reflecting from interesting angles is mesmerizing at night.
During the day we were blown away at Meow Wolf, pleasantly surprised at the Folk Art Museum, slightly shocked at the New Mexico History Museum about how much we didn’t know about the history of the Southwest (and especially the brutality and injustice), and well nourished at a slow but very cute and personal juice bar/raw foods place we had to dig hard to find.
